New Junior Captain Adrian Goodyear “Ashby Decoy Golf Club has a very successful and active junior section. New members are made very welcome into the junior section. A section which has a very broad range of young golfers of all ages and abilities, between 9 and 18, making it easy for newcomers to fit into and get involved in the ‘Junior Scene’ at Ashby Decoy Golf Club. With such a wide range of juniors there are plenty of opportunities to play socially and competitively. Players can often play socially without the need to reserve a starting time but on a regular basis there are reserved times for junior competitions. There is a full calendar of competitive golf where players compete in monthly medals and also for several cups and trophies. These are played mainly on Saturday afternoons and also during the week when schools are closed. As players gain experience and improve in ability they are encouraged to play with the Junior Team which allows juniors to gain experience of playing league matches against the juniors of other clubs and also at other clubs in the area. In recent times the junior have been very successful and have won league, county and regional competitions. The progress of the junior players is monitored and supported by a fully qualified Golf Professional, a Junior Organiser and club management committee.” Adrian is pictured on the right with John Crellin (Club Catain 2011)
